Havening Technique TM Workshops

Havening Technique is a “psycho-somatic” therapy which uses both the mind and body to quickly promote calm and relieve anxiety.

Havening is used by certified havening practitioners to aid the natural processing of the brain following traumatic events, which are encoded in the amygdala as “trauma memory networks” and which can cause symptoms in the present, such as post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety or anger issues, nightmares and sleep difficulties etc.

Through successful application of havening, these trauma memory networks are disrupted and the memory loses its emotional content, becoming stored in the long-term memory store, with much less intrusion on everyday life.

Self-Havening techniques can be quickly taught to people of all ages, from young children onwards and can be used as a fast and effective self-soothing method. Havening helps people to manage their emotions, rather than supressing them or numbing with displacement strategies, such as nail biting etc.

Havening workshops, delivered by Susan Jarman – an experienced teacher and Certified Havening Techniques Practitioner, with a background in Biochemistry & Neuroscience – are available for both staff and children from Yr 1 onwards.

Magical Metaphors

This workshop is intended for education specialists in a variety of settings working with children from Pre-School to Year 4.

Timing: 2.5 – 3hr

Brief Overview:

We can all recognise the power of a great story, but for children, stories play a vital role in learning to cope with the world and helping to deal with new and sometimes challenging situations which arise.

Unleash the power of storytelling using “magical metaphors”; stories which are used in a very specific way – to address unwanted habits, beliefs or anxieties which may be hidden in the subconscious part of the mind. As the conscious part of the mind becomes absorbed in following the characters and events, so the subconscious mind becomes more receptive to the helpful ideas contained within.

Stories are the perfect delivery method to show children how to help themselves simply through the power of their imagination and creativity.

In this workshop you will:

  • learn 10-12 “solution ideas” for common childhood issues
  • learn how to construct a “magical metaphor” story specifically for (& with!) children in your setting
  • learn a simple, yet effective, self-soothing mind-body technique to enable an upset child to quickly calm themselves
